Letter from the General Manager
Thank you for your interest in this multi year, multi phase Master Development Plan (MDP). This draft plan has been developed to meet the growing demand for recreational opportunities here in Southern Nevada and to improve a regional asset which contributes to your lifestyle and high quality of life.
After 2 years of development in conjunction with Ecosign, a worldwide leader in ski area planning, Las Vegas Ski & Snowboard Resort (LVSSR) has presented this draft of a two phase Master Development Plan (MDP) within the ski area Special Use Permit (SUP) area to the USDA Forest Service/ Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest.
I am confident that you will be very satisfied with the services and development that we have proposed. The MDP is still in its draft form and is currently under review by the US Forest Service (USFS). LVSSR management is working closely with the USFS and other agencies to gain the formal acceptance of the MDP by the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest and the USFS Region 4 office, located in Ogden Utah.
We are committed to sustainable development and maintaining a high quality of stewardship of the land. Our goal is to refer to the guidelines set forth in the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification for the structures that are constructed as part of the Master Plan while recognizing the sensitive nature of the Spring Mountains.
Our organization recognizes the importance of balancing the needs of people with the needs of the environment. In order to ensure compatibility, we continue to closely monitor the flora and fauna that are unique to this area and will continue to protect the ecosystems and the sensitive wildlife species found here in the Spring Mountains. Our commitment to intensive, ongoing research focused on "special- status" wildlife and plant species that inhabit the permit area is unwavering.
This will be a lengthy and complicated process. Once the MDP is accepted by the USDA Forest Service, your support will be essential to each phase of the process.
Thank you in advance for your support.
Sincerely,

Brian Strait
